Italian international Alessandro Michieletto will most likely not appear on the court again until the end of the season. This was confirmed by Itas Trentino's general director, Bruno Da Re, on the TV showAfter Hours, quoted byvolleyball.it.
According to the club's director, the receiver's injury has not yet fully recovered, and this practically means the end of his competitive year.
"The fracture has not yet healed, and that's why I think the season for him can be considered over," explained Da Re, clarifying the physical condition of the volleyball player.
The club emphasized that outside of sports activity, Michieletto feels well.
"He walks, has no pain, and performs all his daily activities, with the exception of playing volleyball," added Trentino's general director.
The news comes at an extremely important moment of the season for Itas Trentino, who are battling Cucine Lube Civitanova in the quarterfinal series of the Italian SuperLega.
In the first match, played on Sunday in Trento, Lube achieved a valuable 3:1 away victory and took a 1:0 lead in the series.
Michieletto's absence further complicates Trentino's task, as he is one of the key elements in the team's reception and attack. His absence limits the coaching staff's options precisely at a time when every set in the series against Lube could prove decisive.
The next match between the two teams will be crucial for the development of the quarterfinal clash, which is played to three wins. Lube already has a psychological advantage after their away success in Trento.
